Machine Shop Safety
How to avoid the most common accidents
This course will teach you how to protect yourself from dangers present in the factory when operating machinery. For more on what you will learn, see below.
I have seen a lot of dangerous advice online recently with people suggesting using blowguns to cool yourself off in the summer, or even removing interlocks on doors to enable faster setups. Because of this, I have made this short course to help people stay safe from bad advice based on the safety training I had as a young apprentice.
Please note: This course does not replace the official health and safety courses that are regulated by your local H&S bodies. My course is based on personal experiences and advice I have received over the years as a machinist and is not intended to be used as formal health and safety training.
Entering a machine shop for the first time can be overwhelming, it is not uncommon to be nervous around the machinery at first due to the unforgivable nature of fast-moving cutters, tools, spindles and even people.
Before we operate any machine tools, we must know basic safety. This course will teach you just that.
If you are looking to work in a machine shop for the first time or have machines in your home workshop, this course will teach you how to avoid the most common accidents and stay safe.
